Nutmeg Firearms Training provides Connecticut state pistol permit certification classes that are non-NRA-sponsored. Our programs are designed to be accessible and inclusive, centering marginalized groups, low-income individuals, and others who have historically faced barriers to firearm ownership in the United States.

We offer a safe and supportive learning environment for those seeking an alternative to mainstream American gun culture. Our focus is on education, safety, and responsible firearm ownership, ensuring that all participants receive the knowledge and skills needed for licensure and informed decision-making.

Solidarity with Palestine & Denouncing Israeli Apartheid

Nutmeg Firearms Training stands in firm opposition to genocide, apartheid, and settler-colonial violence. We denounce Zionism as a political ideology that serves as the foundation of Israeli apartheid. We condemn acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing committed against Palestinians, including mass displacement, siege tactics, and widespread devastation.

We stand with Palestinians in demanding:

  1. An immediate end to military aggression, occupation, and blockade.

  2. Full freedom of movement, sovereignty, and access to essential resources for Palestinian people.

  3. The dismantling of apartheid structures and racist hierarchies imposed by occupation.

As a firearms training organization committed to justice, we acknowledge that racialized power and violence extend far beyond our borders. Our support for firearm licensure and education is inseparable from a broader fight against systems of oppression across race, nationality, and global lines.   • Our classes are designed for anyone who wants to learn firearm safety and obtain their Connecticut pistol permit, especially those who may have felt unwelcome in traditional firearms training environments. We serve:

    • First-time gun owners

    • Marginalized communities (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, low-income individuals, etc.)

    • Individuals looking for a non-NRA-affiliated training option

    • Anyone seeking a welcoming and educational firearms training experience

  • Due to high demand, private lessons are not available at this time.

  • Yes, we provide all necessary firearms and ammunition for the live-fire portion of our class. Students should not need to bring their own firearms.

    Students are welcome to bring their own PPE or may use the PPE provided by Nutmeg Firearms Training.

  • Absolutely! We intentionally create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all individuals, regardless of race, gender identity, or background. Our goal is to make firearm education accessible to communities that have been historically excluded or underrepresented in gun ownership.

  • We offer sliding-scale pricing to make firearm education accessible to all. The standard cost for a class in CT is usually around $150+, but we have options for those who may need financial assistance.

  • Yes! We believe that financial barriers should not prevent responsible firearm ownership. If you need assistance, please contact us to discuss sliding-scale options.

  • To ensure fairness and consistency, we require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. If you cancel less than 24 hours before class or if you don’t show up, you will be charged the full session fee. Exceptions may be made in cases of emergencies.
